New Beginnings

Reading at Malvern Books

Oh. Hello there! You still waiting? I know, I know, I’ve been a while. Sorry. I mean you step out for a pint of milk and a newspaper and before you know it you’ve been gone longer than Lennon’s lost weekend and you can’t remember what you had for breakfast let alone where you left the baby.

So, yeah, anyway. I’m back and I think it’s about time I gave the old blog a polish. Over the next few weeks I’ll be fixing links, deleting some old stuff that’s no longer relevant, and trying to be a bit more regular with updates. Out with the old, in with the new. Bye by carp fishing, arrivederci CarpPro, adios anything to do with fish, fishing, people in camo, oatmeal, grits, and boilies. I’ve received plenty of questions since I left CarpPro back in December last year but I won’t be answering any of them. The reasons were good and the time was right for me to leave and I wish my good friends, Karl and Dave, every success in the messed up world of American carp angling. Suffice to say it’s time to move on and if I never see another fish, unless it is battered and sat steaming alongside a plate of chips, it’ll be too soon.

So what’s new? Well, as most people knew, I returned to school a while back and am transferring to UT Austin in the fall to complete an English degree. From there it will be an MFA in Creative Writing and, hopefully, teaching. In the meantime, I continue to pursue my first love; writing. Last week I had the pleasure of reading from my novel-in-progress, Voodoo, at Malvern Books. I have a short piece in the queue for publication but waiting a confirmation date and some legal affairs to complete before that can happen. And I continue to write short stories and memoir, honing my craft, and failing better. I’m excited by the launch of my new writers workshop and looking forward to collaborating with some truly talented authors.
